My mom and dad have been cleaning out their house trying to de-clutter and get rid of things that they don't need or don't want or don't belong to them. My mom called me a few weeks ago to let me know that she found the Beanie Babies. I have to say that I had completely forgot that mom and dad had them. I remembered that they were in the attic and I just thought the rats or rodents had gotten to them. Just kidding...my parents don't have rats or rodents in their house. I didn't think they were still in good shape, but my mom said they were. Anyway, I should tell you that I started collecting them when I was single and in my 20's. I'm not really sure why, except that I thought they were cute and being an elementary teacher, I thought I could use them and they didn't cost that much. I think I even said they were an investment. It's amazing that this is what I was thinking in my 20's. After hanging up with my mom I thought about those Beanie Babies for a few moments and I even think, I called Kyle to tell him. His reaction was something like, WHAT? I guess when we were dating my Beanie Baby collection never came up in conversation. At that point my mom and dad weren't coming for another couple of weeks so...out of sight out of mind. That brings us to last Thursday. My mom and dad along with my sister, Sarah and my niece Allie got to our house around 3:30. Can you guess what was one of the very first things out of their car? You guessed it...those Beanie Babies. They were in two tall kitchen trash bags. My mom dumps them on to the floor and Allie goes," WOW"!!!! We then decide to categorize them. At this point Colsen was still taking a nap. Boy, won't he be surprised when he wakes up. After we categorize them we decide to line them up and count them. Can you guess how many I had collected? A whopping 141 Beanie Babies!!! This also included some McDonald's Tiny Beaning Babies. I was speechless!! My sister took a picture on my phone and we sent it to Kyle. He wasn't sure what to say either. Colsen got up and walked down the stairs and saw all these stuffed animals and he just smiled. I don't think he knew what to say, no one did!! Colsen and Allie had fun playing with them! The Beanie Babies are now in two tubs in a closet and I'm not really sure what to do with them. So much for the investment, I went to E-bay last night to see what they might be worth and...not very much! I might be able to get $2.00 for each one. Needless to say, I'm going to keep them. If anyone has any suggestions on what I can do with them I would love to hear them!
The Collection WOW is about all you can say!!
