Snowy Weekend

During the late part of last week, the weather men were forecasting a winter mix of sleet and snow. I got very excited!! Winter is not Winter without snow! My friends from Charlotte were telling me not to get my hopes up. Too late...hopes up!! Just in case, I wanted to be prepared so on Thursday, I headed to the grocery store to get everything we might need for meals and snacks. I had no idea what to expect and I wanted to be ready. Friday night came and nothing! Can I just tell you how disappointed I was!! Kyle could tell by my face that I was not happy with our weather situation. He told me to be patient and reminded me that the snow wasn't really supposed to come until early Saturday morning!! I went to bed and REALLY hoped there would be snow on the ground in the morning!! Colsen came downstairs and got us up and this is what we saw: I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was!!! I felt like a kid who was waking up to the best news ever!! We didn't get a lot of snow but that didn't matter to me, at least we got some!! After having some breakfast, we headed outside so we could have fun in the snow! We couldn't wait to show Colsen!! Let's just say, Colsen didn't quite share our excitement for the snow. But to be fair to him, he wasn't feeling all that great and it was still snowing/lightly sleeting while we were out there. Looking back maybe not the best time for him to experience snow, but, oh well. We spent the rest of Saturday, playing, napping and hanging out indoors! Sunday was a different story, the sun came out and it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! However the temp. was in the 20's and that meant there was ice on the roads. We decided not to go to church. By noon the the temp. had warmed up to 45 and the ice on the roads had, had some time to melt. We decided to get out of the house and go get something to eat! The roads seemed to be in decent shape. After coming back home we spent some time outside having fun and we did a little shoveling of snow to make our back steps a little easier to get up. Later that night we learned that Colsen wouldn't have school on Monday due to the very cold temps overnight that would cause the melting snow to turn to ice. The good thing was Kyle's flight to Washington, DC wasn't until 2:40 pm so we had the whole morning to hang out!! We had such a fun weekend in the snow!! Today I saw a report from a weather man that predicted another round of winter mix coming this Friday and Saturday. We'll see what happens...

The view outside our bedroom window Saturday morning!

The front of our house!!

We ran into some of our neighbors who had children that had sleds. They were so nice to give Colsen a ride.

This was Colsen's reaction!! Not a happy camper!

Trying to get a few pics before we went back inside. Colsen letting us know that he is not such a fan of the snow!

I think he would prefer to see it from the inside of our warm house!

Me and my sweet unhappy boy!!

I forgot to mention that Saturday afternoon we went outside again before it got dark. Colsen was better but he wanted to be held the entire time we were out there. I can't really blame him, it was VERY slippery!!

On Sunday, the sun was out and so were we!!

Colsen investigating the snow with is shoes!

So fun to watch!!

You could tell he was really thinking about this stuff called snow!!

Picking up a chunk of snow/ice that daddy had shoveled!

Colsen wants to give it a try!!

Look Dad, I'm working!!

At least, I look cute doing it!!

Colsen decides to go for a spin!!

Takes a break!!

And sees a chunk of ice and can't resist throwing it!!

Back on his tri-cycle for more fun!!

Daddy having some fun trying to snowboard on a plastic tub lid!! By this point, the snow/ice was a little to wet.

Hanging out in the snow!!

On his way...one of his new expressions is to have his tongue out. I think he does it when he is really thinking or concentrating on something.

Heading down the driveway for the street.

Having fun!! By this point most of the ice had melted on the street.

Daddy and his snow boy!!! I couldn't get Colsen to look at me so this is what I got!
