Lolly to the Rescue!!!

Sunday night after we went to the Transportation museum Colsen started coughing and he pretty much coughed through the night. I went up and checked him and gave him some cough medicine but he didn't have a fever. Monday morning, he seemed to be doing okay. No cough or fever so he went to school. By that afternoon, he was coughing again and when I when I went to put him down for a nap he felt a little warm. I took his temp. and it was around 101. I gave him some Motrin and he took about a 3 hour nap. When he woke up he was doing okay. By that night things got worse. When I went to put him to bed he felt REALLY warm, so I took his temp. again. This time it was 103. 7! WOW!!! I knew at that point, Colsen is sick!! He has only had a temp. that high maybe twice that I can think of. I gave him some more Motrin and he went to sleep. I made sure I checked on him throughout the night. I even took his temperature a couple of times to make sere the fever wasn't going any higher. If the fever got to 104, I was headed to the ER. The good news is that it never did. The next morning I called and got an appointment to see a doctor.

We headed to the Doctors office. We ended up seeing a different doctor than his normal pediatrician. That was okay because there all great!! By the time we got to the doctor his fever was down but only because of the Motrin. The doctor checked all the usual stuff: ears fine, throat fine, lungs, we've got a problem. The doctor told me that she could hear some fluid in the upper portion on his right lung. She told me Colsen had Pneumonia. I was thinking, OH MY GOODNESS!!! When I think of Pneumonia, I think very very sick and hospital!! The doctor told me that we caught it early and he would be fine. She gave Colsen a prescription of Augmentin and told me that the fever may hang around so give Colsen Motrin if he needs it. I also made a follow up appointment for that Friday. Wednesday was okay, Colsen mainly rested and watched videos. By Thursday, I was thinking he should be a little better and he wasn't, but I knew we had the follow up appointment the next day.

On Friday we headed back to the doctor and Colsen was NOT better at all!! This time Colsen saw his regular pediatrician. He listen to him breath and it wasn't good, which I could tell because he was breathing very shallow breaths. He was getting the oxygen Colsen was just having to work twice as hard. We did a breathing treatment in the office and then we were sent to another place to get a chest x-ray. By that afternoon we found out that Colsen now had pneumonia in both lungs! I now have a very, very sick little boy!!

By this point, I'm starting not to feel all that great and Kyle calls and tell me that he's not feeling good either. Kyle also told me that he thinks he's got fever. This is not a good situation at all!! That's when Lolly comes to the rescue!! Lolly flew to Charlotte Friday night and landed just a little earlier than Kyle. It worked out perfectly because they were able to ride together. Lolly did an AMAZING job of taking care of us!! She made our favorite foods and let us rest while she took care of Colsen!! We couldn't have made it with out her!! By Sunday when she left, we were all feeling a little better and we were hoping that we would be completely well by Christmas!! Lolly, we can't thank you enough!! We were all able to get better because of you!!
