First Day of School

Colsen had a great first day!!  I went and woke him up at 6:00 in the morning.  He said to me, "mom, you woke me up in the dark".  He had no problem getting up and coming downstairs for his Pediasure and Zone bar.  I gave him a chance to wake up and enjoy his breakfast while watching Nick Jr.  By the time I was ready for him to get dressed he was ready and we had an easy time.  Our fabulous neighbor Kathie came over to watch Caroline while Kyle and I took Colsen to school.  She was also great because she was able to get some pictures of Kyle, Colsen and I.  Caroline was still sleeping at this point.  Getting to school was super easy with very little traffic and I was worried about finding a parking spot but that worked out well too!  The Lord was in the details this morning!!  We all walked in together and Colsen seemed to doing well.  I'm pretty sure all he was thinking about was playing at the Lego table.  We were there early so we were able to get a few pictures before it was time to go to Colsen's classroom.  He was so excited that he was out the cafeteria door before we were and heading to his room.  He walked in and remembered where his cubby was and hung up his backpack.  Mrs. Griffin reminded him where his table was and there was an activity for him to work with.  I think he was a little disappointed about not getting to go to the Lego table first thing but we learned later that he did have a chance later in the day.  Kyle and I got him settled and took a few more pictures and then we were on our way.  I didn't really get teary eyed.  He seemed happy so I was happy!  Everyone was ready for the first day of school!!  At 2:00 Kyle met me back at school and we were both able to pick Colsen up at school.  We picked him up outside the building.  His teacher said he had a great day!!  He was all smiles when we saw him!!  We asked him how his day was and he said, "good".  We asked him several question and he told us he played with some friends but he couldn't remember their names. Maybe we'll find that out tomorrow.   He was very excited to go to the library and check out a book.  He told us he could keep it for 2 days and then he was to bring it back.  He was very adamant that it wasn't his to keep.  He also told us that his job for the day was pushing in chairs.  We surprised him and went to Chick fil a after school and he was able to have his favorite french fries and Sprite for a snack.  I saved the chicken for dinner.  It was a great chance for us to sit down together and talk about Colsen's day.  It also gave Kyle a chance to eat before he left for the airport.  We said goodbye to Daddy and headed home.  The weather was so nice we went for a walk and Colsen found some friends to play with for a little bit.  At 5:00 it was time to go home for dinner and bedtime because tomorrow is another school day and it begins when it is still dark.  It was a great day and I am so thankful to God for this day to have gone so well!!  I know Colsen is having sweet dreams tonight!!
